Additional Blame It On Gravity Information
|
Blame It On Gravity is the seventh studio album and the first new album in 4 years from alt-country pioneers Old 97 s. The album finds the band turning up the amps and returning to the satisfying crunch with a mix of rock, punk, pop and classic country that defined the band s sound on earlier albums. The band credits the new album s enthusiasm to their return to their hometown of Dallas, TX to record, the first time since their initial independent release. The band, still comprised of original members Rhett Miller, Murry Hammond, Ken Bethea and Philip Peeples, deliver what they believe is the finest album of their 15-year career.

New to the Old 97s and I love every song. This will be one CD I listen to over and over. Color of a Lonely Heart is beautiful.
I love this band and this album is just as interesting and unique as most of their work. I recommend it.
The up-tempo "Dance With Me" is the highlight of the album and it's set up perfectly by opening track "The Fool. Blame It On Gravity is a solid effort from the Old 97's. The overall tempo of the album is slower than previous releases but the combination of country, rock, rockabilly and blues is still the quintessential Old 97's. It follows through with bluegrassy "Here's To The Halcyon" and wraps up with "The One". The only downside is that each new album by the Old 97's seems to make their previous albums even better.
Rhett Miller sounds as good as ever and the remaining members of the band sound on top of their game. This is the latest of the Old 97's long list of albums and it ranks high on the list. Once again the band mixes it up with some 'Pop', 'Alt Country' and some hard edged rock songs. I would highly recommend this latest release from one of the best bands out there. Jeff D
So, pick this one up, and then go for some of the other ones such as Fight Songs, Wreck Your Life and Satellite Rides. Why. I first heard the Old 97's over 10 years ago and they have been one of my favorite groups ever since. Alive and Wired is also an excellent example of a group that is consistent in the studio as well as on the stage. Well, they have an original creativity that is rare - their albums give you more than one good song per CD, you can safely enjoy all the tracks. And, their albums can be listened to over and over again and never become tired of them. Heck. Get the whole collection.
